Los Angeles based fashion bloggers The Smoking Nuns specialize in making serious fashion fun. Only they could match sequins with Converse High Tops, or turn a simple gas stop into the perfectly rugged photo shoot. College buddies from Santa Cruz, these girls add the perfect dash of California laid-back coolness to the usually showy fashion crowd.

If you are still new Cinematheque, this is how it goes:
Every SUNDAY, at closing, The Fine Art of Design wheels the endless racks of clothing out of the way, exposing a large white wall. Couches and chairs are moved in front of it, creating a cozy and intimate screening area. Coffee is brewed, beverages are chilled, and the film is setup. By 8 PM, the sun has gone down, and John Steppling is ready to introduce the film. A little backstory and history to put the film in context, and play.
This Sunday, Cinematheque will be screening Roberto Rossellini's "The Rise of Louis XIV" also translated as, "Taking of Power by Louis XIV."

STACKED is much more than a bookshop- it is the culture department for The Fine Art of Design; from Sunday night Cinematheque, to Thursday night After Hours, Wednesday Feminist Matters group meetings, to the daily in flow of art books, literary reads, vintage and current magazines, and zines.
It is no doubt we draw constant inspiration from the bookshop. STACKED has found one more way to infiltrate our minds- Tumblr! Here is my most recent obsession, Todd Cole's film for Rodarte, featuring Elle Fanning. The warm hues, the retro decor, the jackets-- another sign the new season is approaching.
For two years now, The Coachella Valley Art Scene has been providing the valley and beyond with a community board like no other. Out of love, these bloggers showcase all that is good in the desert, and provide us with countless reasons to get out of the house and get involved!
